Support for firefighters to help manage stress

Would you like to use a smartphone app to gain new skills designed to improve your wellbeing and mental fitness?

Firefighting requires both physical and mental fitness. A skill-based smartphone app that aims to help firefighters boost their mood, improve their wellbeing, and feel more in control of their reactions to distressing events is now being tested.

The app is based on the SOLAR (Skills fOr Life Adjustment and Resilience) program. This program includes evidence-based strategies to promote resilience and recovery in people affected by stressful or traumatic experiences.

The free, evidence-based app has been developed by Phoenix Australia – Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health in partnership with Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters and Black Dog Institute and is being funded by iCare.
